"Earth Monster"
ICONOGRAPHIC IMAGE (2012 - 2026)
This content features an artistic synthesis inspired by iconographic and cosmological motifs found across various pre-Columbian civilizations of central Mexico, the Yucatan peninsula, and Belize (commonly referred to as “Mesoamerica”). This includes the ancient Olmec, Maya, and Aztec (Mexica) peoples. It is not intended as a definitive theological/scholarly interpretation, but as an exploration of recurring symbolic language across time.
This iconographic illustration is inspired by beings that are commonly referred to as “earth monsters”. These earth monsters don’t show up in one singular form, but share many similarities in the overall appearance and iconography. I created this piece as a visual exploration attempting to connect the dots between the motifs referenced above.
